Now that you’ve set up your landing page to collect emails, it’s time to build your social media following.
Sometimes the hardest part is getting the first ten people to follow you, and that’s ok. Every single success story you hear about starts at zero too.
Now is a great time to revisit your Ideal Backer Profile and look at the social media platforms your potential backers are on. This is the place to start. The wide variety of platforms out there can be overwhelming. You may be asking, “where do I start?” Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Youtube, Discord, Twitch, TikTok, and Snapchat may be good places to consider. When choosing which platforms to join, here are a few things to consider:
- Where do your ideal backers hang out the most?
- Which platforms do you already have an existing fan base on?
- Which platforms do you personally love being on? Hate being on?
It’s going to be very tempting to join as many as you can, but we suggest sticking with a few at first, so you don’t get overwhelmed or spread yourself too thin. Start with Facebook and Instagram, for example, then work your way to others as your community requests. It may also be worth your time to experiment with whatever platform is currently trending at the moment. At the time of this writing, it’s TikTok, but that will likely change in the coming months or years. Remember Vine?
